Our BigCommerce Development Process

Below is an overview of the Madwire Media BigCommerce website build process from inception to completion. Nobody will work harder for you than us!

Mock Up Review & Approval Phase

Once we receive your contract the project is placed on our development calendar. A Project Manager will be contacting you to begin this phase. Let’s do this!

  • You will work with the Project Manager to get an awesome homepage mock up design created/started.
  • During the mock up review you will be making changes to the homepage mock up. You are able to make several rounds of revisions, but please keep in mind that these rounds will count towards your allotted time/bid*. It is best to provide your changes in a list with detailed instructions. You may also call to review changes over the phone with the project manager.
  • Once the homepage  mock up revisions are complete, and the homepage design and layout is approved by you, we will begin any inner page mock up designs that might be needed and revise until approved.
  • During this time, the project also enters the Content Collection Phase.

Content Collection Phase

  • All content for the homepage and back pages of the site are collected, this includes Web Page text (for example: About Us, Services, FAQ, Shipping & Returns, etc.)
  • Product Upload- please review your contract to establish the amount of hours we will spend uploading products.
  • Back Page Layout- if you have any special requests, not standard to big commerce, we will need to create an inner page mock up.
  • If you plan to import content from an existing site, we will need a big commerce CSV template. Here is an example.
  • Once the content has been collected the project will move into the Build Phase.

Website Build Phase

  • Once all mock up designs are completely approved and all content needed for the website is collected, the project moves into development. Our development team will then build the site based on the approved mock up designs and content provided. Keep in mind, the mock up design might not be exactly pixel perfect when converted to actual html and CSS, however, it will still look great!  Please note, any layout changes during devlopment (outside of what was previously approved) are difficult because the development team codes out the site based on the mockup design and content provided. If there are layout changes during development it may cause your project to go over it’s alloted time, which is fine, but may result in additional charges (don’t worry, the project manager will keep you informed of possible overages).
  • After the development team has added all content, you will be notified to review the site for changes.
  • You are able to make revisions, again we appreciate the changes to be in a list and as detailed as possible. You can also review changes over the phone with us!
  • Once the test site is approved, we will do the on-site SEO and take the new website live! We will also setup emails, etc. if needed.

Live Phase

  • The Project Manager will spend an hour instructing you on how to manage the back end, so you can update content on your website.
  • Your site generally takes 2-3 weeks to index by search engines correctly.
  • An account/marketing manager will be in touch with you to discuss your marketing plan to drive targeted traffic to your website and increase your keyword rankings.

Thanks for your business! We look forward to building you a super sweet website!

*NOTE
The projected total time spent on the design & development of this project should not exceed the total number of hours listed in the contract. The estimated hours includes, but is not limited to, time spent revising mock ups, creating inner page mock ups, website development, website changes. In the uncommon event that hours are accumulated over the allotted bid, the overage hours are charged at an hourly rate as stated in the contract.
