Content Marketing: part-2

In our last post on Content Marketing we talked about the change in buyer attitudes towards traditional media. This post will cover the second part of how to get customers with unique content.
2. Traditional Media sources can’t be counted on to reach your customer.
Publishing companies used to invest millions of dollars in developing circulation that matched advertisers marketing targets. Through this they were able to gather data specific to that market and obtain somewhat measurable results. As the industry has evolved so has the decline in traditional publications and the membership associated with them. Over the past several years some of the major newspaper publications like The New York Times and Washington Post have seen a significant reduction in daily circulation.
This reduction shows no signs of slowing down. So as more users seek the Internet as their source of information and look to find data in real-time, it is no surprise that these major players are losing huge portions of the advertising market share. As memberships decline and circulations decrease so does the opportunity for businesses to deliver their product to that membership base. As stated in the previous post consumers are tired of being bombarded with traditional advertising, aka outbound marketing.
So if you have for years invested your advertising resources in media outlets such as newspapers either on a local, regional, or national level you should re-think your marketing strategy. Consumers today are responding to inbound marketing strategies. You are able to put your product in front of the consumer when they are ready to receive it. This form of marketing is more targeted and produces greater results.
