Big Businesses are shifting Ad dollars to the web
The recession for 2008 will forever change the marketing world. Before 2008 the majority of ad dollars flowed into print, radio and television medias, but today it’s the internet. Display is getting a big boost because large advertisers are beginning to shift money to the web from TV and print. The shift is to inbound marketing as opposed to outbound marketing. Pepsi shifted a major part of its ad dollars to inbound marketing this year when it decided, for the first time in 23 years, it would not be advertising on this years Super Bowl. Instead, Pepsi shifted those dollars to its inbound marketing campaign of search and display advertising on the web where it could receive a large impact and higher ROI.
Google, which receives about 70% of the internet search volume, receives 2.8 billion searches a day. Add that with the two other large players, Bing and Yahoo and it’s easy to understand why inbound marketing such as search engine marketing is pushing the old school outbound marketing off the playground.
