Happy New Year!
Posted on 01. Jan, 2010 by seo in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
If you’re like most business people, this is a time to reflect on the past year’s business successes and failures, and to plan accordingly for this upcoming year. Successful business people generally do more of the things that are working and less of the things that aren’t. Sounds simply enough, but identifying the things that are working from the things that aren’t will take some analysis. The first place to start is with your advertising programs, where everything that you spent money on last year must be considered. This would include: yellow page advertising, post cards, postage, printing cost, print advertisement, radio, local listing premiums, paid search, banner ads, lead brokers, search engine marketing and search engine optimization; basically, anything that could be considered promotional should be looked at.
What we want to determine is what the ROI was for each promotional item. For example, if you spend $1,500 on a promotional card mailer and it generated $2,300 in sales, its’ ROI was 1.53/1. Basically, for every dollar spent you received $1.53 back. Once you have determined the ROI on each promotional item, than rank them in order, with the highest ROI on top.
Focus your marketing effects on ROI ratio’s of at least 3 to 1 and 2010 should prove to be a very good year for your business!
