Don't be conned!

An advertisement arrived in the mail today claiming that they would, for the low price of $65, get my website listing on the worldwide web!  Imagine the excitement!  This amazing company would only charge me $65.00 for something Madwire Media does for free, something our computer program does in seconds; list your site with over 200 search engines.

I hope that this type of offer will go ignored, but I’m afraid it will likely to very successful.  Unfortunately, there are a great number of businesses looking for just something this cheap to throw their money at.  Why would I pay for a professional SEO dreamstime_574610service when I can pay $65 and be done with it?  Remember Forest Gump’s momma? “Stupid is as stupid does.”

Here are some clue’s when considering SEO offers.  If an SEO offer arrives by snail mail, the firm sending may not be too tech savor.  Simply being listed on the worldwide web will not help, one bit, in your websites search ranking.  The offer of a quick fix or claims that your site will be at the top of Google in seven days are little more than conmen trying to get your money.  Real search engine marketing by real SEO professionals takes time.  To be successful in search your site needs to build content relevant pages and links, which take time.  Any shortcuts are likely to be considered ‘Black Hat’ SEO, which might work for a few weeks, maybe even a few months, but search engines like Google watch for that type activity and once it’s found, the offending websites are de-listing, or thrown into the penalty box here the site will not come up on search at all.  You’ll be in a very dark place than.  I guess, that’s why they call it black hat?
